About

Hunter Newton

Hunter (also known as Ret) Product Designer at Red Ventures (Bankrate), building AI-assisted tooling, workflows, and brand-safe systems.

How I work

Constraints

I design within constraints and use them as features that enable autonomy while preserving quality.

Systems thinking

I build interconnected systems that compound value over time, not one-off solutions.

Rapid iteration

I prototype quickly, test with real users, and refine based on feedback.

Background

My path into product design started with Road to Hire, a software engineering training program, before joining Red Ventures. I moved from digital design to visual design and eventually into product design, where I focus on systems that scale creative work.

At Bankrate, I've built AI-assisted tools that help non-specialists create high-quality outputs independently—from on-brand imagery and paid media ads to prototyping prompts and competitive research. I treat prompting as a UX problem, embed AI into experience layers rather than standalone chatbots, and design constraints as product features.

I believe the best tools don't just automate—they embed judgment, preserve quality, and help people work better. I'm interested in how design can make AI systems trustworthy, transparent, and genuinely useful.
